The magic of theatre lies in the atmosphere it creates on stage. All the little details from lights to decor, from music to silences, that fit so well together, that mezmerise us. Yes, the lines have their importance, but they would sound so empty without all the rest.
We can have that magic in improvisational theatre too, this form of art which we often mistakenly believe needs to rely so much on words. But once we put aside the verbal, a world of infinite possibilites opens up...
The aim of this Bubble is to encourage improvisers to step out of the comfort of the 'Talking' and step into the less-explored 'Doing' and ' Being' . We will limit the spoken word and expand our scenic toolkit with the help of various exercises that will involve body work, rhythm, space, listening, emotions and, of course, connection.
What you’ll learn
how to create truthful, vibrant scenes relying on the physical and emotional abilities.
to expand your set of improvisational tools with unique rhythm and space exercises
body work that will enrich your character exploration.
the power of silence and how it impacts the situation
how to develop a scene simply from listening and observing the others
Who this is for
This is one of our Bubbles. These courses are intended for improvisers who already have an understanding of the basics, perhaps (but not necessarily) through our own Starting Steps courses. If you’re wondering which course is right for you, then feel free to email us.
This particular course is suitable for both intermediate and advanced improvisers. One can never work TOO much on emotional connection after all :)
