Improvisational theatre is one of the most versatile forms of art. You can play it in so many ways, from short-form games to medium or long formats and you can create infinite variations. The most complex one remains the long-form, as it encaptures the essence of this extrordinary art form, by approaching it to theatre and fascinating the audience. From fast-paced, funny stories to dramatic or mysterious outcomes, everything and anything can happen in an hour of improvisation. From free narratives to genres or monoscenes, the palette is unimaginably wide. This bubble will focus on how to discover, work on and play different types of formats. We will dismantle every aspect from story to characters, space or emotions only to put it back in the end, in the most imperfect improvised puzzle. And who knows? Maybe you will create your very own format!
What you’ll learn
Create a logical, simple yet engaging storyline
Develop a character in a theatre-like way
Transform the surrounding empty space into a 'decor'
Different methods of beginning and ending scenes
The importance of energy and emotion on stage
Who this is for
This is one of our Bubbles. These courses are intended for improvisers who already have an understanding of the basics, perhaps (but not necessarily) through our own Starting Steps courses. If you’re wondering which course is right for you, then feel free to email us.
This particular course is suitable for both intermediate and advanced improvisers. One can never work TOO much on emotional connection after all :)
