Have you always wanted to play the Joker, Cruella, Cersei Lannister, or some other villainous character on stage? This workshop is for you!
We will learn how to play a villain in the service of the story!We'll work on techniques to embody, and act as, the antagonist of the story. We will work on body language, verbal acting and motivation of the villainous characters.
A great deal of importance will also be given to caring for the actors as playing a villain implies total listening in order to care for and inspire one's partners.
NB improvisers signing up need to have a minimum of 6 months’ of improv experience.
About Meng Wang
Meng has been an improviser since 2009. He trained in theatrical improvisation in Paris in different schools: Big Buddies Impro, Impro Academy, and l'Atelier des Impronautes. He is a member of the improvisation troupe Smoking Sofa, a Parisian company specialized in narrative long-form. He regularly participates in workshops and international festivals where he has worked with renowned trainers such as Patti Stilles, Shawn Kinley, Omar Argentino Galvan, and Joe Bill. From 2019 to 2021, he completed a professional training as a clown actor in the renowned Parisian school: the Samovar. He now specializes in the Keith Johnstone improvisation system, organic improvisation, and long forms. Meng is a former video game designer, and loves adding gamification in his training, watch out if you are working with him, he will make you PLAY!
